Leah
Leah is a 5 year old female Chocolate Labrador Retriever weighing about 60 lbs. She is being fostered by SNIPSA in a home in San Antonio. Leah is an extraordinary dog who came from San Antonio's Animal Care Services after a traumatic injury to her rear paw. She had been living in a dog run for most of her life and shuffled between several homes. It was in her most recent home that she attempted to crawl out of the run and sustained a significant injury. She tore most of the tissue from her foot, exposing bones and tendons. She was taken to Animal Care Services, as the owners lacked the financial resources to provide proper medical attention. The veterinarian at Animal Care Services promptly removed the exposed bone and did what he could to salvage her leg. After months of antibiotics, bandage changes, and time, Leah's paw has healed. She now romps around, behaving like the beautiful Labrador Retriever she was born to be. On her recent trip to the lake, she headed straight for the water. Not only did she retrieve like a machine, but she also ventured out on the ski boat. Leah was in heaven at the lake ... napping to the sound of the boat's motor and raising her head to watch the children tube on the lake. Leah is precious. She has a big heart and adores children. Having been neglected in her past, she is somewhat shy around new people, especially unfamiliar men. Once she becomes accustomed to a new person, she is your best friend. Leah is truly a testament to canine resiliency. She has made a great comeback and is ready for a home to call hers. Leah is spayed, current on vaccinations and microchipped. Leah's adoption fee includes her spay, microchip, vaccinations, physical examination, and treatment for internal and external parasites. She is current on heartworm prevention.
