Lena

Lena is a 70 pound German Shepherd mix who is just over a year old. Lena was rescued from the streets of San Antonio on a cold, rainy afternoon. She was very shy but wanted to badly to trust her rescuer. Lena had been left alone her own by her previous owners and was cared for by neighbors until SNIPSA came along. She was quite happy when the SNIPSA rescue squad came along with a cheeseburger to let her know we were to be trusted! Lena was very nervous and we were a bit worried that our first rescue attempt would be unsuccessful as a loud noise sparked her fear. Her eyes told us the entire time that she did not want us to leave without her but she was not totally sure how to trust us. Those eyes were what made her rescuer make one last attempt with one last bite of cheeseburger. She slowly bent down with that last bite in her hand and Lena gently took it and let her begin to pet her. The leash went on and Lena's new life was about to begin! Once in foster care this sweet girl never looked back. She rode wonderfully in the car and carefully explored the house when she arrived. Lena has now transformed to a wonderful family dog who has long since forgotten her early neglect. She loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home and is quite fond of the time she spends with her family. She knows how to use the doggie door and is a joy to have in the home! Lena is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.
