Tex

Tex is a former SNIPSA dog and went to his forever home in August of 2007. He came to SNIPSA from Animal Care Services. He was picked up as a stray on the south side and literally had no hair. He was covered in fleas and ticks and had lost all of his hair because he was suffering from demodectic mange. He was also severely anemic and underweight. When SNIPSA volunteers rescued him, they spent hours picking the ticks off his poor skin. He began treatment for his mange, severe ear infections and anemia. He lived in foster care for many months while he was recovering. Fortunately, one day two little boys met the skinny, still pretty hairless dog and could not live without him! He is now a robust 94 lbs. and is completely cured of everything! He is the most loving and friendly dog you will ever meet. To see him now, you would think he's always been a beloved pet. The only reminder of his past life is the 1/4 inch scar that runs around his neck, where he was once chained. No more chains for Tex! Just love, attention, hugs and kisses. His favorite pastime is hanging out with his family, especially the two little boys that share his home. His other hobbies include playing with his sister (another rescue dog), swimming and laying out by the pool, sleeping under mom's computer desk and of course going on walks!

There are many other animals who have stories similar to Tex. Won't you give one of them a chance? Many of them have had a rough start in life and only need a loving home to change that. Adopt a rescue!

If you cannot adopt, there are many ways you can help animals. Please consider all of our volunteer opportunities or donate to SNIPSA. We cannot continue to save lives without volunteers and financial resources.
