Fostering a Pet

Fostering Saves Lives Our AdoptablesDonate

FOSTER FAMILIES ARE THE BACKBONE OF SNIPSA

We are an organization that rescues animals from a wide variety of circumstances. Most animals need to be held for a short period of time to be socialized and to ensure no illnesses are present. Some of the animals rescued have more extensive medical needs and require a longer period of time in foster care.

We do not have a standing shelter or central point of operation. The only means we have of taking care of the animals is with foster families. It is through this network of fosters that we are able to rescue and rehome so many wonderful animals into caring homes.

Families that foster are provided with a wealth of resources for all their SNIPSA fosters. We provide food, crates, toys, collars, leashes, and veterinary care. In return, fosters are asked to provide a temporary loving home for the rescues while they wait to find their future homes. As a foster parent, you are directly involved in meeting the family that your foster pet goes home with- you are a part of the adoption process. The family that adopts your foster pet will in many instances become like a second family to you.

Getting your foster adopted

SNIPSA pets are adopted both online and at adoption events which are usually held two to three times a month. Foster families are asked to bring their foster pets to the events so they can meet potential adopters and also continue their socialization.

Fostering is a wonderful experience for those who want to help animals. It is a great way to expose children to the compassion of caring for animals in need, and it’s also a great way to “test” different pets in your home. Believe it or not, about 1/3 of our adoptions happen because the foster family falls in love! Fostering fills your heart with love and inspiration. Seeing pets that would have been destroyed find wonderful homes is one of most fulfilling jobs you’ll have!
