Foster

Foster families are the backbone of SNIPSA. We are an organization that rescues animals from a wide variety of circumstances. Most animals need to be held for a short period of time to ensure no illnesses are present and to be socialized. Some of the animals rescued have more extensive medical needs and require a longer period of time in foster care.

We do not have standing shelter or central point of operation. The only means we have of taking care of the animals is with foster families. It is through this network of fosters that we are able to rescue and adopt so many wonderful animals into caring homes.

Foster families are provided with a wealth of resources for all of the SNIPSA animals they care for. We provide food, crates, toys, collars/leashes, and veterinary care. In return fosters are asked to provide a temporary loving home for the rescues while they await their forever homes. As a foster parent you are directly involved in meeting the family that your fosters go home with as you are part of the adoption process. The families that adopt your foster animals will in many instances become like a second family to you.

Rescues are adopted both online and at adoption events which are usually held once or twice a month. Foster families are asked to bring their rescues to the events to show them to potential families and continue their socialization.

Fostering is a wonderful experience for those who want to help animals. It is a great way to expose children to the compassion of caring for animals in need. It fills your heart with love and inspiration to see animals that would have been destroyed, find wonderful homes.
